Why We Created the Hub

Women’s safety is a topic that affects everyday life, yet it is not always openly discussed.

Across workplaces, public spaces, and travel, many women experience concerns that influence how they move, work, and engage with the world around them.

At the same time, there are many organisations doing valuable work in this space—but their efforts are not always visible or easy to find.

The Women’s Safety Hub was created to help bridge that gap:

  • Raising awareness of real challenges
  • Highlighting existing support and initiatives
  • Encouraging collaboration across sectors

Our aim is not to replace the work already being done, but to bring it together—highlighting resources, amplifying voices, and making information easier to access.

Bio

Having worked across a variety of industries throughout my career, beginning in hospitality and later moving into different sectors and roles, I’ve seen first-hand how the challenges women face can vary depending on their workplace, circumstances, and experiences. These roles have given me a broad understanding of the barriers women can encounter and the importance of creating environments where they feel supported, respected, and heard.

One thing I’ve learned is that women cannot be placed into a single box. Every woman’s experience is unique, which is why I have a deep appreciation for the charities and organisations that take the time to understand the people they support and tailor their services to meet individual needs.

I wanted to be involved in this project because I believe in giving back and helping to raise awareness of the fantastic work being done to support women across the UK. By highlighting valuable resources and celebrating the organisations making a real difference, I hope to contribute to greater understanding, support, and positive change.

Bio

Since I started working at 17, I’ve seen a lot change in everyday life and in the workplace across the UK, especially from a woman’s perspective. I wouldn’t say I’ve “seen it all,” but I’ve experienced enough (and witnessed plenty more) to understand many of the challenges women face regarding safety, and where the system doesn’t always keep up.

This space is about sharing what I’ve learned along the way, offering practical guidance, raising awareness, and helping those who might not even realise they need support yet. I’m also extremely passionate about shining a light on the incredible organisations working hard to push women’s issues forward and create real change.

For the past eight years, I’ve been lucky to work with SGS Ltd., a company that genuinely embraces women-focused policies and puts real effort into making them work. This includes not just supporting women in the workplace, but also helping male colleagues better understand how to support and engage respectfully with female members of the public and women’s organisations.
